Offshore Reptile Surveys

The Grenadines islands feature one endemic and several regionally endemic terrestrial reptile species and subspecies. Our work at the offshore islands has resulted in several new island records, contributing to knowledge of their distribution throughout the archipelago. Terrestrial reptile species are some of the most vulnerable types of wildlife to invasive mammals, such as rodents, and their conservation relies on accurate information of their presence at islands where they overlap with such threats. Throughout 2020–2021 we conducted terrestrial reptile surveys independently and with partner organizations at offshore islands in the Grenada Grenadines.
